"The
climate scientists want to make us poor peasants." Common Arguments from Skeptics From Logical
Science
I've seen this
argument in countless places. This argument has been
made by a documentary called "Mine your
own business", Senator James
Inhofe, and a former Reader's Digest staff writer Robert
Bidinotto.
"Expanding basic
necessities like running water and electricity in the
developing world are seen by many in the green movement as a threat to
the planet’s health that must be avoided." - Senator
James Inhofe, 9/25/2006
Many call the climate change science a "hatred of modernity".
While I can't comment on the environment movement, this
simply
does not apply to climate scientists.
Scientists like their toys too. In
fact, all they do
is develop technology. They are driven by the urge to
discover
the unknown. The Nobel
physicist Richard
Smalley has been calling for an Apollo Energy program.
He want us to develop a wide range of technology like the
ones listed on this
website.
He wants the energy to be cheap, clean and
plentiful. Richard Smalley wants to bring everyone in the world
up to the US's standard of living. A feat which is impossible to
accomplish with fossil fuels. In the Discovery Channel episode: Global
Warming, What You Need To Know
James Hansen says that fixing global warming won't hurt the economy.
He says it will create a lot of high-tech and high paying
jobs.
